Yesterday, 1C visited Moor Allerton Library. We enjoyed a session with the librarian who explained how you can take books out from the library, and then she read us a story. The children did such good listening and were so well behaved! Well done 1C!

Sketching bird feathers
In Art this week, we practised sketching bird feathers. We talked about drawing the shapes and lines we could see. We used charcoal for these drawings and the children did brilliantly! Well done 1C!
Big and small feelings
In PSHE this week we have been speaking about big and small feelings. We collected some feelings words and discussed whether these might be a big feeling or a small feeling. We then had a circle time around different scenarios and how these would make us feel. The class did so well with using the new feelings words we had learnt like “frustrated”, “disappointed” and “overjoyed”.
Handa’s Surprise sentence building
In our writing lessons last week 1C built M sentences using colourful semantics. They picked the who, what doing and what part of their sentence and used the widgets to help them write their sentence. We had some fantastic sentences like “The monkey pinched the soft banana”.
Forest School day
On Wednesday in 1C we had our Forest School day led by Mrs Whittaker. The children took part in a carousel of activities and did tree planting, made bird feeders and made nature pictures with real flowers. We ended the day by toasting marshmallows around the fire pit!
Handa’s Surprise fruit tasting
This half term in writing we are learning the story Handa’s Surprise. As a hook, we tasted the fruit from the story and described the taste and texture using describing words.
🎪 KS1 Circus Sensible ACE Day 🎪
KS1 had a fantastic time on Tuesday as we welcomed the Circus Sensible Team into school for an unforgettable experience!
The day kicked off with an electrifying assembly, where the children were wowed with amazing circus skills, instantly igniting their excitement for the day ahead.
Throughout the day, each class took part in hands on circus workshops, exploring activities like plate spinning, ribbon twirling, balancing and more. Every session was led by a skilled professional, ensuring all children (and teachers!) were supported and engaged as they learned new tricks.
The day ended with a show stopping finale, where children volunteered proudly demonstrated their new talents. It was a joy to see their confidence grow and their faces light up as they performed for their peers.
A big thank you to to all the children and staff who helped make the day so memorable. What a brilliant way to build confidence, coordination and teamwork – all while having fun!
Welcome to Year 1!
We have had a fantastic first week in Year 1. The children have loved exploring the areas of provision in the classrooms and taking part in some exciting activities! This week, we have learnt the poem “There Was an Old Lady who Swallowed a Fly”. On Friday we visited the orchard and picked some apples. We enjoyed tasting the apples together.
