At ACE we celebrated World Book Day by coming to school dressed in our pyjamas with our favourite bedtime story. The children were very excited to show each other their pyjamas and they enjoyed sharing their books with their friends!

Last week in 1C we started our Arts Fortnight. We mixed primary colours to make secondary colours such as orange. We also made colours lighter and darker using white and black. We experimented used palette knives to make marks that represented fire.
On Friday Year 1 enjoyed a trip to Leeds City Museum. Some of our favourite parts were looking at the animals, the old household objects and the mummy! The children did some fantastic sketches of the artefacts. Well done 1C!
Last week in D.T we started sewing our alphabet books. We learnt about how we are going to bind them using a saddle stitch. The children have been working really hard on these alphabet books for the last 4 weeks. They have designed their own front covers, blurbs and drawn pictures for each letter of the alphabet. We can’t wait to see what the end product looks like!
In Computing this half term the children are learning how to create art digitally. We have spent time learning what the different icons mean such as the paint brush, fill tool and undo button. This week, the children have had a go at making different shapes and practising filling them in.
In History this half term we are learning about what life was like in the past, particularly when King Charles was a child. This week we have spent time looking at different household objects from the past and trying to guess what these are. We recognised the iron, kettle and phone straight away but we were a little stuck on the VHS!

In our Art lesson, the children then had a go at drawing these items using different drawing materials such as charcoal and oil pastels. The children focused on seeing the lines and shapes of the item. They did a fantastic job!

On Thursday we went on the coach to see Stick Man at Leeds Playhouse! We enjoyed watching the performance on stage. Our favourite bit was when the dog stole Stick Man and ran around the theatre!
Last week in 1C we began getting ready for Christmas by making decorations for our class Christmas tree! We absolutely loved spending time in provision decorating baubles and cutting them out ready to hang on our tree.

This week in writing we have been getting ready to do our Hot Write. We made soup and then wrote instructions about how to make soup. The children were so good at using the knives safely and their writing was really impressive!
