Today was national No Pens Wednesday in schools. With a focus on oracy and speaking and listening skills, we explored all our usual lessons, but without any pens, pencils or keyboards! Take a look at some of our activities!
As we moved towards the end of our unit on addition within 10, we focused on working on our reasoning and problem solving skills.
In 1C, we thought about working systematically to make our task easier and then worked with our learning partner to find all the possible solutions to a problem.
Dave is looking very guilty, lets see which numbers he has taken.
Can you put these in order from 40-50? Which numbers has Dave taken away?
A huge well done to the following children for completing ALL the challenges set on Mathletics:
Keep up the great work! Well done to everybody else who has been one and done some of the challenges too.
We are only 2 days into Year 1 and we are already exploring different ways of representing numbers within 10! We wrote the numeral, used Numicon, multi link and ten frames to show the value of numbers… even moving on to pictorial representations!
1RC have been getting active in Maths today, working in teams to half and quarter amounts accurately!
The children have explored using dice to add 2 single digit numbers and record them in a number sentence on their whiteboards!
This afternoon 1RC have been focusing on using pictures to represent and prove number facts. We used our learning partners to work together using whiteboards to draw our number stories and to prove to Mr Cosgrove that we were correct!
